Flash trip to Tampa and Orlando

Two weeks ago we got to go to Tampa and Orlando for two days (and a half :)).

We took a flight from Dallas to Tampa and spent two wonderful days in gorgeous Florida (despite of the cold weather).

On Friday afternoon we visited Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, the biggest private collection of the painter in the world. The price of the ticket to get to the museum is $25 ($22 if you are a teacher, like us), but in my opinion it is worth every penny. Audioguides are free and there is a great variety of paints by the catalan artist.

After that, we drove to Orlando (it took us about one hour and a half).

On Saturday, we decided to go to Universal Studios. The ticket for the two parks is $140 each, but we sure enjoyed the money spent. It was wonderful. I totally recommend it! (Although if you are traveling with younger kids you may prefer going to Disneyworld).

After spending the day in the park, we drove back to Tampa (well, to Crystal River, north to the city) because on Sunday we got to swim (or float) with manatees. Manatees are unique mammals that live in this part of Florida from around October to March due to the good temperature of the water. They need super warm water (anything below 60ºF would cause their death). They are the most calm and relaxing animals I have ever seen and it was a magical experience, although it was super cold! Just in case you are interested, we took the tour with River Ventures and we were really happy about how they treated us.

Hace dos semanas tuvimos la oportunidad de viajar a Tampa y Orlando por dos días (y medio :)).

Cogimos un vuelo desde Dallas a Tampa y pasamos dos maravillosos días en la bonita Florida (a pesar del frío).

El viernes por la tarde visitamos el Museo Dalí en St. Petersburg, la mayor colección privada del pinto en todo el mundo. El precio de las entradas es $25 ($22 si eres maestro, como nosotros), pero en mi opinión vale la pena cada centavo. Las audioguías son gratis y hay una gran variedad de obras del artista catalán.

Después de eso, conducimos hasta Orlando (nos llevó como una hora y media). El sábado, decidimos ir al parque temático Universal Studios. La entrada para los dos parques nos costó $140 por persona, pero os aseguro que disfrutamos locamente el dinero gastado. Fue maravilloso. ¡Lo recomiendo totalmente! (Aunque si viajas con niños quizás prefieras vista Disneyworld).

Después de un día en el parque, cansadísimos, conducimos de vuelta a Tampa (bueno, a Crystal River, al norte de la ciudad) porque el domingo tuvimos la oportunidad de nadar (o flotar) con manatíes. Los manatíes son unos mamíferos únicos que viven en esta parte de florida desde octubre más o menos, hasta marzo debido a la buena temperatura del agua. Ellos necesitan agua calentita (cualquier cosa por debajo de los 60ºF les causaría la muerte). Son los animales más calmados y relevantes que he visto nunca y fue una experiencia mágica, ¡aunque super fría! Por si a caso estáis interesados, tomamos el tour con River Ventures y estamos muy contentos sobre como lo hicieron y nos trataron.
